This year has definitely been an adventure. Who would have thought moving to Klamath Falls, OR. would be one of the most significant parts of my life? This past couple of years has definitely been a journey of growth. Learning what it means to be vulnerable, figuring out how to be in community with people and creating deep connections with those I am close to, stepping into other peoples story, finding my core values and learning how live from them, being able to be consistent and have character in the midst of a heartache and pain, and seeing that in every experience, situations and circumstance that I am constantly enwrapped in the Father’s Love; these are just a tip of the ice berg of what I have learned and encountered and experienced. And here I am again in the middle of a transition (more on this later).
A new adventure is waiting.
As I ponder where this next season will take me, questions began to form in my mind.
What kind of story do I want to live?
What story am I creating that someday will be worth telling to my children? to my grand children?
What kind of legacy do I want to leave behind?
Is the story I am making worth inviting people into?
I just got done reading A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller and most of these questions were sparked from that book.
“A good storyteller speaks something into nothing. Where there is an absence of story, or perhaps a bad story, a good storyteller walks in and changes reality. He doesn’t critique the existing story, or lament about his boredom, like a critic. He just tells something different and invites other people into the new story he is telling.”
After reading this book, I was inspired. I don’t want to be complacent anymore. It’s one of the reason why I finally launched this blog site. This is what was needed that finally to pushed me out of my comfort zone. As the author was told his story so this blog will be here to tell of my story, about the adventures ahead and the journey of life wherever it takes me.
Think about where you are in your life right now. Are you satisfied? If you can change anything, what will it be? If money wasn’t an obstacle, what would you do? Where would you go? What would you do different?
We’re dreamers. We’re visionaries. We’re adventurers. It ingrained in us. And somehow we’ve become complacent.
Living a good story is the inspiration that motivates us into action. A story is what gives us the reason to do something with this life we have been given. What do you want your story to be about? I hope as I write about my experiences and things that I am learning and will come to learn, that it would spark something in you to live a better story.
